Team USA holds off South Sudan in exhibition

Cinderella story South Sudan falls just short

LeBron sinks game-winner with eight seconds left

Team USA continued its preparation for a run at a fifth straight gold medal in men's basketball ahead of the 2024 Olympics in Paris with a 101-100 exhibition win over South Sudan on Monday night.

South Sudan, the youngest nation playing international basketball, led by as many as 16 points in the first half and held a 10-point lead with less than 10 minutes remaining in the game.

But Team USA stormed back with a 20-4 run to take the lead with less than four minutes remaining, and LeBron James hit the game-winning shot with eight seconds left to give the Americans the win.

James finished with 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists, while Anthony Davis added 21 points and 12 rebounds. South Sudan was led by Wenyen Gabriel, who had 22 points and 11 rebounds.

The win was a much-needed one for Team USA, which had lost its previous two exhibition games. It also gives the Americans some momentum heading into the World Cup, which begins later this month.
