First New Zealander in Open Era to Reach Last 16

Upset Top 10 Player in First Round

Lulu Sun's dream Wimbledon debut continues to get better as she became the first New Zealander in the Open era to reach the last 16 at Wimbledon. Ranked No. 123 in the world, Sun upset No. 10 seed Emma Raducanu in the first round.

Sun's victory is the first upset of a Top 10 player at this year's Wimbledon. It is also the first time a New Zealand woman has reached the last 16 at a Grand Slam since Marina Erakovic in 2015.

Sun will next face No. 2 seed Iga Swiatek in the fourth round. Swiatek is the reigning French Open champion and is currently on a 35-match winning streak.
